After another photography session in Harlem for my project on Muslims in New York City I was biking back home - down Broadway to get across the Brooklyn bridge. When I crossed onto 24th street the intense sunlight that hit the side of the Flat Iron Building almost stopped me dead in my tracks. The direct sunlight seemed to bleach out half of the building.
I cancelled my lunch. Sat down. Drew.
This is probably the hardest building to try and capture in ink. It's like Burnham and Dinkelberg, the building's architects, said to themselves, 'Let's see anyone try drawing this mother...'.
